About the role

The Teaching Assistant 1 (TA1) acts as the course reader (grader) and academic data clerk for the instructor, handling class record keeping and related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Grade quizzes, exams, and assignments
• Perform filing (physical or digital), copying, and data entry
• Provide other clerical or computer support as needed
• Assist in proctoring class exams
• Facilitate lecture/classroom experience (in‑person, virtual, or hybrid) as class size and instructional complexity require
• Help the instructor with lecture and exam preparation

Requirements

• Have taken and passed the course with a grade of “B” or higher
• Be a La Sierra University student currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 quarter
• Be cleared and able to start work on or before September 21
• Have taken BIOL301 within the last 4 years and passed with a grade of “B” or higher

Skills

• Clerical and computer skills (data entry, filing, copying)
• Ability to grade assessments accurately
• Proctoring and classroom facilitation

Pay

Wage range: $17.00 – $17.30 per hour

Schedule

Required hours vary week to week.
