About the role

The Biology Student Laboratory Teaching Assistant (TA2) assists the instructor with preparation and operation of laboratory classes, whether in‑person or virtual, provides instruction during the laboratory, and may help with grading assignments/quizzes and other clerical work related to the lab experience. The course instructor serves as the direct supervisor and makes the final hire decision.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructor with preparation and operation of laboratory classes (in‑person or virtual)
• Provide instruction during laboratory sessions
• Assist with grading of laboratory assignments and quizzes
• Perform clerical work related to the laboratory class experience
• Work the full laboratory section on both days of the lab time slot
• Allow time for preparations, meetings with the instructor or lead TA, grading, and other operational activities

Requirements

• Must be a La Sierra University student currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 quarter
• Must have taken and passed the course they would TA for with a grade of B or higher
• Must have taken BIOL131/L within the last 4 years and passed with a grade of B or higher, or have been a previous TA2 for this course within the last 4 years
• Ability to start work on or before September 21

Pay

Wage range: $16.90–$17.50 per hour
