About the Role
The Bilingual Patient Support Specialist (Spanish/English) serves as the initial point of contact for patients in the virtual clinic, ensuring timely and high-quality care delivery. This role is essential in coordinating patient flow, confirming appointment readiness, and facilitating smooth transitions to clinical teams, thereby supporting patient satisfaction and operational efficiency within the virtual care environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate multiple care teams to connect patients with appropriate clinicians.
- Manage patient engagement and maintain smooth scheduling across concurrent visits.
- Transfer patients to care team members and provide real-time intake information.
- Notify nursing staff when patients are ready and track visit status to prevent delays.
- Monitor call activity and support timely handoffs between staff.
- Escalate scheduling conflicts and patient issues to maintain care quality.
- Initiate outbound calls to confirm appointments, verify patient identity, and prepare patients for visits.
- Conduct pre-visit intake including demographics, consent, and pre-screening.
- Perform technology checks to ensure visit readiness.
- Handle inbound calls to assist with visit questions and technical navigation.
- Document patient interactions and update clinical teams on patient status.
- Troubleshoot minor technical issues and escalate as needed.
- Communicate internally to coordinate activities among care team members.
Requirements
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, capable of conducting patient conversations and communicating healthcare information accurately.
- Experience in healthcare or customer service settings.
- Strong digital skills and familiarity with platforms such as Zoom, Teams, and EHR/CRM tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm in a fast-paced virtual environment.
- Preferred: Experience in telehealth or remote care delivery and familiarity with HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.
Pay
Compensation is $17 per hour.
