About the role

National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) is seeking a bilingual Housing Program Case Aide for its Sycamore, IL location. The ideal candidate must have reliable transportation and carry 100,000/300,000 bodily liability car insurance. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and Saturday hours.

Responsibilities

  • Actively supports, represents, and extends the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Aid housing advocates to provide in-home supportive services, community resource referrals, advocacy, and other social service interventions to clients.
  • Communicate regularly with program participants via phone, virtually, and in person, documenting each interaction following program guidelines and expectations.
  • Conduct housing searches, reach out to community resources, and assist program participants to connect to resources in their communities.
  • Aid housing advocates to complete housing applications with clients, review rental agreements, and accompany clients to view rental units.
  • Follow-up with clients to review individual service plan implementation.
  • Aid housing advocates to obtain furniture and utilities for program participants.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Participate in program related training.
  • Completing all other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree preferred or two years of college coursework.
  • Two years of work experience working in direct service strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Chicagoland area strongly preferred.
  • Ability to drive own vehicle within service area required.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable personal transportation, good driving record, and minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate program and participant needs.
  • Capacity to be flexible and responsive to clients served, system partners, and internal customers.
  • Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function.
  • Demonstrates tolerance and respect for the ideas and actions of others.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, photocopiers, and software including word processing and spreadsheets.
