About the role
National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) is seeking a bilingual Housing Program Case Aide for its Sycamore, IL location. The ideal candidate must have reliable transportation and carry 100,000/300,000 bodily liability car insurance. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and Saturday hours.
Responsibilities
- Actively supports, represents, and extends the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Aid housing advocates to provide in-home supportive services, community resource referrals, advocacy, and other social service interventions to clients.
- Communicate regularly with program participants via phone, virtually, and in person, documenting each interaction following program guidelines and expectations.
- Conduct housing searches, reach out to community resources, and assist program participants to connect to resources in their communities.
- Aid housing advocates to complete housing applications with clients, review rental agreements, and accompany clients to view rental units.
- Follow-up with clients to review individual service plan implementation.
- Aid housing advocates to obtain furniture and utilities for program participants.
- Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
- Participate in program related training.
- Completing all other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree preferred or two years of college coursework.
- Two years of work experience working in direct service strongly preferred.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with the Chicagoland area strongly preferred.
- Ability to drive own vehicle within service area required.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable personal transportation, good driving record, and minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate program and participant needs.
- Capacity to be flexible and responsive to clients served, system partners, and internal customers.
- Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function.
- Demonstrates tolerance and respect for the ideas and actions of others.
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, photocopiers, and software including word processing and spreadsheets.
