About the Role

digitalLIFT is seeking an enthusiastic and community-minded Bilingual (English/Cantonese) Outreach Coordinator / Instructor to support digital inclusion initiatives throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. In this role, you will be delivering digital literacy training, coordinating logistics and building relationships with community partners, recruiting volunteers, and supporting programs that expand access to technology and digital skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Digital Literacy Instruction (40%)
    • Deliver culturally inclusive digital literacy training to adults in-person at community partner sites primarily in Oakland Chinatown, Hayward and Union City, and occasionally in other parts of the Bay Area or virtually as needed.
    • Facilitate one-on-one and group instruction using established digitalLIFT curriculum.
    • Adapt lesson plans and teaching approaches to meet learners' varying skill levels and needs.
    • Conduct learner assessments to identify digital skills and training needs.
    • Assist learners in developing the confidence to safely use computers, smartphones, tablets, and online services.
  • Program Operations (20%)
    • Conduct site visits to ensure classrooms and training spaces are properly prepared.
    • Configure and prepare devices according to program guidelines.
    • Assemble training materials and instructional resources.
    • Ensure classes are delivered in accordance with program standards and grant requirements.
    • Troubleshoot operational issues and escalate concerns when appropriate.
  • Community Outreach & Partner Engagement (10%)
    • Serve as a digitalLIFT representative within the community and at partner organizations.
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, learners, and stakeholders.
    • Survey community members to assess training needs, interests, and availability.
    • Promote upcoming classes through community outreach efforts and communications.
    • Contribute content for digitalLIFT's website, newsletters, and outreach materials as needed.
  • Volunteer Coordination (20%)
    • Assist Volunteer Manager in recruiting, screening and onboarding new volunteers.
    • Coordinate volunteer schedules across multiple program locations.
    • Match volunteers with appropriate teaching, event, and community outreach opportunities.
    • Provide regular communication with volunteers.
    • Organize volunteer recognition and appreciation activities.
  • Data Management & Reporting (10%)
    • Ensure instructors and volunteers accurately report instructional and volunteer hours.
    • Perform timely data entry into organizational databases and systems.
    • Assist with collecting, validating, and reporting program data for grant reporting and internal evaluation.
    • Support continuous improvement efforts through surveys and data analysis.

Requirements

  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and Cantonese.
  • Passion for digital literacy, community education, and serving older adults and underserved populations.
  • Experience teaching, training, facilitating, or presenting to groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Computer proficiency, including Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail, Meet), Microsoft Office, Zoom and Dropbox.
  • Comfortable learning new technologies, software, and processes.
  • Experience using smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other digital devices.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a diverse team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for community events.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Compensation

  • 30 hours/week
  • $31.80/hour
  • 90% of employee-only medical, dental, and vision premiums and 100% of employee life and long-term disability premiums; 50% for dependents for dental and vision.
  • 10 paid holidays.
  • Paid winter break between Christmas Eve to New Year's Day.
  • 10 vacation days in the first year, increasing to 15 days in the second year.
