About the role
The Chemistry Department at Wesleyan University invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track Professor of Chemistry position in any of the areas encompassed by experimental physical, computational physical, or inorganic chemistry, with an expected start date of July 1, 2027.
Responsibilities
- Develop a vibrant, externally funded research program involving both graduate and undergraduate researchers.
- Demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Teach courses in both introductory and advanced topics of physical chemistry or inorganic chemistry for both undergraduate and graduate student populations.
- Advise and mentor students.
- Participate in faculty governance at the departmental and university level.
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field at the time of application.
Qualifications
- Success in working with diverse populations.
- Research that contributes to Wesleyan’s interdisciplinary programs (College of the Environment, College of Integrative Sciences, College of Design and Engineering Studies).
Skills
- Ability to teach a wide range of chemistry courses.
- Experience in developing externally funded research programs.
- Strong communication and mentoring skills.
