About the role
The successful candidate will play a leading role in envisioning, developing, and deploying innovative degree pathways between undergraduate and professional master programs. They will also be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research, and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
Responsibilities
- Curriculum development and renewal at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Undergraduate humanities and social science teaching
- Professional masters teaching, especially in the areas of GLAMs (Galleries, Archives, Libraries, and Museums)
- Administrative leadership, including stakeholder engagement and consultation, effective communication, and positive faculty-staff working relationships
- Inter-divisional collaboration
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in fields such as Information Science, Museum Studies, History, Anthropology, Area Studies, Cultural Studies, Media and Communication or Journalism Studies, or Memory Studies
- Proven track record of excellence in research and teaching
- Established international reputation
- Strong endorsements from referees
- Evidence of excellence in teaching
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience and achievements in:
- Curriculum development and renewal at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Undergraduate humanities and social science teaching
- Professional masters teaching, especially in the areas of GLAMs (Galleries, Archives, Libraries, and Museums)
- Administrative leadership, including stakeholder engagement and consultation, effective communication, and positive faculty-staff working relationships
- Inter-divisional collaboration
Skills
- Leadership in global and comparative research in one or more of the following areas: Fascism and far right movements during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries in Western Europe, including how these ideologies are represented and contested in monuments and museums, and how they relate to (mis)information in the public sphere. Memory studies as it relates to the construction and reconstruction of national narratives and heritage, especially during times of political upheaval and social re-organization. Methodological expertise in archival research and historiography, with attention to how archives are formed and later utilized. Expertise in Italian cultural studies and cultural history, especially as it relates to neighbouring states in the Mediterranean.
