Visiting Assistant Professor, Greek and Roman History, College of Arts and Sciences

Job Overview

The Department of Classics in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a one-year non-renewable position as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Classics, with specialization in the histories of Greece and Rome. The appointment will begin on August 15, 2026, and entails a 2/2 or 2/3 teaching load. Teaching duties will include Greek History, Roman History, in addition to one of our advanced Civilization courses in the Spring (Athenian Democracy; History of Medicine; Ancient Warfare, vel sim.).

Essential Functions

• Teach undergraduate courses in translation on Ancient Greek and Roman History
• Teach undergraduate course in translation on Greek and/or Roman civilization

Minimum Requirements

• Ph.D. in Classics or a related field, completed or expected within one academic year
• In-depth knowledge in the field of Classics
• Experience teaching introductory history or related civilization courses
