This is a continuous recruitment for part-time Associate Lecturer/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer positions in Criminal Justice/Criminology. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis to build a candidate pool for future openings. Teaching assignments are made on a per-course, per-semester basis and do not guarantee future assignments. Teaching load ranges from 1-12 credits per semester. While primarily on-site, partially remote and remote opportunities may be available.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • Serves as an initial point of contact for students regarding specific course content and expectations
  • Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction

Department

The UW-Stevens Point Department of Sociology and Social Work has 13 full-time teaching faculty and staff, approximately 165 undergraduate social work majors, and approximately 150 undergraduate sociology majors in both face-to-face and online program options. The department also offers minors in Criminal Justice and Substance Use and Addiction Studies. With a commitment to social justice and applied learning, the department emphasizes quality teaching, undergraduate research, community-based practicums, and service to the region. The department is developing a Master of Social Work Program.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in sociology, criminal justice, criminology, or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to effectively instruct and engage with a wide range of students, encompassing diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching at the college or university level
  • Experience teaching in multiple modalities, such as in-person, online, and hybrid
