Assistant Program Coordinator Trainee - Undocumented Student Resource Center
Temporary 1-year limited-duration appointment with possibility for reclassification into the SSP IB classification for an additional 1-year appointment.
About the role
The Assistant Program Coordinator Trainee (SSP IA) is a trainee-level appointment working under the lead direction of the Dreamer Resource Center’s Program Coordinator (SSP III) and with close supervision of the Director. During the trainee period, which is not to exceed 12 months, the incumbent is expected to develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to function under general supervision at the SSP IB working level.
The incumbent assists the Dreamer Resource Center Coordinator through clearly defined efforts to deliver integrated support services and programming aimed at improving undocumented, mixed-status family, and all students’ academic success, leadership, professional development, retention, and enrichment of the overall student experience. This position will serve as a mentor and advisor to undocumented, mixed-status family, and all students. The APCT will also work with interns and student assistants to support staff who design and deliver programs for graduate and/or undergraduate students to promote and raise awareness around student excellence through events/programs, written materials, and representation on campus-wide committees.
FLSA: Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime compensation).
Responsibilities
- Assist the Dreamer Resource Center Coordinator in delivering integrated support services and programming to improve academic success, leadership, professional development, retention, and overall student experience for undocumented, mixed-status family, and all students.
- Serve as a mentor and advisor to undocumented, mixed-status family, and all students.
- Support interns and student assistants in designing and delivering programs, events, and written materials that promote and raise awareness of student excellence.
- Participate in campus-wide committees to represent the Dreamer Resource Center.
- Gather and analyze data, reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations.
- Participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences, and interviews.
- Clearly express ideas and recommendations orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
Requirements
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field. Specialized experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior.
- Working knowledge of research and observation techniques for recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information.
- Working knowledge of the techniques and methods of interviewing.
- Ability to gather and analyze data, reason logically, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences, and interviews.
- Ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations orally and in writing.

Pay
Anticipated hiring range: $4,150.00 per month. Anticipated starting salary is at the entry of the classification salary range. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,150.00 – $5,076.00 per month.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Hours may vary based on department needs.
