Assistant Program Coordinator Trainee - Veterans Success Student Resource Center

About the role
The Veterans Success Student Resource Center (VSSRC) Assistant Program Coordinator Trainee (APCT) is a trainee-level appointment working under the lead direction of the VSSRC Program Coordinator (SSP III) and with close supervision of the VSSRC Director. During the trainee period, which is not to exceed 12 months, the APCT is expected to develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to function under general supervision at the SSP IB working level.
The incumbent assists the Center’s Program Coordinator through clearly defined efforts to deliver integrated support services and programming aimed at improving students’ academic success, leadership, professional development, retention, and enrichment of the overall student experience. This position will serve as a mentor and advisor to students. In addition, the APCT will work with interns and student assistants to support staff who design and deliver programs for graduate and/or undergraduate students to promote and raise awareness around student excellence through events/programs, written materials, and representation on campus-wide committees.
FLSA: Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime).

The Veterans Success Student Resource Center supports veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, and military-connected students by providing VA education benefits guidance while connecting students to campus resources, career development, leadership opportunities, and community partnerships. Requirements
- Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior.
- Working knowledge of research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information.
- Working knowledge of the techniques and methods of interviewing.
- Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations.
- Ability to participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences, and interviews.
- Ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations orally, to write clear and concise reports, and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
- Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.
Qualifications
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
- Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

- Ability to understand and navigate a dynamic campus culture with diverse populations.
- Competency in cross-cultural communication.
- Demonstrated success working on teams and supporting colleagues on collaborative initiatives.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, with advanced notice.
Pay
The salary rate for this appointment is $4,150 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,150 per month - $5,076 per month.
Schedule
- Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with occasional evening and weekends, dependent on department needs.
- Time Base: Full-Time.
- Pay Plan: 12 months.
- Recruitment Type: Temporary (1-Year Limited Duration. Possibility for reclassification into the SSP IB classification for an additional 1-year appointment).
