California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Management (Organizational Behavior/Managerial Skills) position in the Department of Management and Marketing, College of Business and Public Administration, beginning Fall 2027.

The College of Business and Public Administration (BPA) is accredited by AACSB and NASPAA (for the MPA program) and houses four departments. Undergraduate degrees offered include:

  • BA in Public Administration

About the Department

The Department of Management and Marketing is a collegial department that values diverse ideas, areas of study, and methodologies. The department provides essential components to the education of every business student at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, preparing students for careers in general management, human resource management, logistics and supply chain management, management information systems, small business management, entrepreneurship, international management, and marketing.

Faculty advance research in these areas and engage with the community to foster ties to commerce locally and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching core undergraduate and MBA courses in Organizational Behavior (MGMT 3000 and 6040) and Managerial Skills (MGMT 3090 and 6050), as well as other related courses as assigned.
  • Expertise in organizational behavior topics, including personality, emotions, attitudes, perception, motivation, groups and teams, communication, leadership, power/politics, conflict/negotiation, organizational structure/culture, and change/stress management.
  • Develop and enhance managerial skills in students.
  • Maintain an active program of scholarly research with publications in peer-reviewed academic journals, consistent with AACSB standards and departmental expectations.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives in program development, assessment, and interdisciplinary collaboration in support of the College of Business and Public Administration’s mission.
  • Engage in meaningful departmental, college, and university service, including participation in accreditation and assessment efforts, professional service within the management discipline, and activities supporting the institution’s mission and its students and community.
  • Advance diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the role.
  • Teach in-person courses at the main campus in Bakersfield and the satellite campus in the Antelope Valley, as well as through other modalities to serve students and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or DBA in Management with a focus in Organizational Behavior from an AACSB-accredited institution. Applicants nearing completion of a doctoral degree may be considered; however, employment is contingent upon submission of evidence of degree completion by May 1, 2027.
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience in higher education.
  • Evidence of a record of, or strong potential for, conducting high-quality research.
  • Willingness to engage in departmental, college, university, and community service activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including first-generation students.
  • Candidates with a Ph.D. more than five years old must have recent publications to be classified as Scholarly Academic at the time of hire.

Pay

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The position is full-time and paid monthly, with a salary range of $6,221 – $13,224 monthly ($74,652 - $158,688 annually). The anticipated hiring range for this position is $115,000 – $135,000 annually.
