Tenure-track faculty position in Organizational Behavior / Human Resources at the Assistant Professor level, effective August 1, 2027.

About the Role

The University of Tennessee’s Haslam College of Business and the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship invite applications for a tenure-track position. The Haslam College of Business is AACSB accredited, with over 200 full-time faculty serving approximately 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The college is expanding with a new 240,000 square foot business building, Boyd Hall, opening in 2028.

The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship offers undergraduate degrees in Management and Human Resource Management, a master’s degree in management and human resources, minors in Entrepreneurship and Social Entrepreneurship, and a Ph.D. in Strategy, Entrepreneurship, & Organizations. Faculty publish in top journals including AMJ, AMR, ASQ, JAP, JBV, JIBS, JOM, Org Science, PPsych, and SMJ.

Knoxville is located in east Tennessee, with a metro area population of over 900,000. The city offers a mild climate, a walkable downtown, diverse nightlife, and proximity to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Knoxville has been recognized as one of the top 25 best places to live by USA Today and a top 10 “America’s best towns” by CNN Travel. It is home to several large corporations and is within driving distance of Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Asheville, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Nashville.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Organizational Behavior / Human Resources or a related discipline, earned by August 1, 2027.
• Evidence of quality scholarship and teaching effectiveness.
• Promise in developing a program of disciplinary research and scholarship gaining external recognition.

Preferred qualifications:

• An ongoing program of research in premier refereed journals.
• A desire to work with doctoral students.
• An identifiable methodological skillset.
• A record of demonstrated teaching success at an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Engage in human resource management and/or organizational behavior research resulting in premier publications.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in management.
• Participate in professional and university service activities.
