Assistant Professor of Biology

Belmont University’s College of Sciences and Mathematics seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology to begin August 2026. Application review starts December 12, 2025.

About the role

The successful candidate will join a collaborative department committed to high-quality undergraduate education and hands-on research experiences within a Christ-centered, student-focused university.

Responsibilities

• Teach introductory-level biology courses for majors and non-majors.
• Offer upper-level courses in area(s) of expertise that complement departmental offerings.
• Maintain a full-time teaching load of 24 credit hours per academic year.
• Develop an undergraduate research program that enhances departmental strengths.
• Engage in academic advising, student mentoring, scholarly activity, and university service.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary general education programs through collaborative teaching and course design.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biology or closely related field (ABD candidates considered).
• College-level teaching experience strongly preferred.
• Commitment to undergraduate teaching, student mentoring, and active scholarship.
• Ability to integrate technology effectively into teaching.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teaching and research.
