About the role
The School of Information at San José State University is seeking an Assistant Professor - Artificial Intelligence (AI) in LIS, starting in August 2025, for their MLIS and BSISDA programs. This position focuses on AI and library & information science, which is a critical area of need and a high priority for the university.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with the design, development, and release of a new interdisciplinary minor in AI for undergraduates.
- Helping lead the iSchool in the AI LIS teaching and research areas.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of a new 4+1 accelerated program combining 4 years of undergraduate study with 1 year of graduate work, leading to both a bachelor's and master's degrees.
Requirements
- A PhD in Library and Information Science (LIS) or a related field by the start date.
- Experience in AI and its applications in library and information science.
- Strong teaching and mentoring skills.
- Ability to contribute to the development of new interdisciplinary minors and accelerated programs.
