Role Overview
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Med Surg department during evening/night shifts, overseeing daily unit operations, nursing staff, and patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support nursing staff during shifts
- Coordinate patient flow, staffing, and unit support
- Promote quality care and patient satisfaction
- Provide leadership, conflict resolution, and de-escalation support
- Serve as a resource for team members and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Maintain effective communication with staff, patients, and leadership
- Assist with scheduling, training, coaching, and implementing initiatives
- Support unit prosperity; serve as a liaison for families
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree required; BSN or graduate degree preferred
- Minimum of two years of clinical RN experience; leadership experience preferred
- Current RN licensure in the appropriate state
- Completion of required competencies and leader training
- Ability to support team development, educational initiatives, and audits
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
