Assistant Nurse Manager - Medical Surgical

Role Overview

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a Registered Nurse responsible for supporting the unit's clinical and operational activities during their shift. They assist in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating patient care services while providing managerial presence across shifts. The ANM utilizes the nursing process to ensure quality care delivery and team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Support the nursing leadership in managing daily operations.
• Supervise clinical staff and ensure adherence to care standards.
• Coordinate patient care activities and resource allocation.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, and patient-centered care.
• Serve as a role model and liaison within the healthcare team.

Qualifications & Skills

• BS or BSN in Nursing; current Alaska RN license.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Preferred: recent acute care experience, charge nurse experience, leadership, and shared governance involvement.
• Strong clinical, leadership, and communication skills.

Key Duties

The ANM manages clinical activities, supports staff, ensures compliance with policies, and contributes to quality improvement efforts, fostering a supportive environment aligned with the organization's mission of compassionate, whole-person care.
