About the Role
Incumbent works in a high-volume Referral Center to establish, support, and maintain relationships with internal and external referral entities, such as medical groups, IPAs, Health Plans, and community physicians.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Work with hospital-based registration/scheduling systems to register patients
- Interpret and understand various medical insurance plans and make accurate determinations regarding coverage
- Problem-solve, negotiate, and research for answers
- Maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- Communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner
- Deal with stressful situations and individuals while remaining calm and professional
Requirements
- Working knowledge of MS Office products
- Understanding of medical terminology as well as insurance programs and payors
- Minimum 6 months recent experience working in the Healthcare field directly related to referrals, authorizations, medical billing, etc.
- Minimum 2 years experience in a customer service position within a healthcare environment
- General knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous call center experience
- Experience with EPIC and/or OnBase
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese
- 1 to 2 years experience in a Healthcare field directly related to referrals, authorizations, medical billing, etc.
