Assistant II- Referral Center- FT Day Shift

Position Summary

Incumbent works in a high volume Referral Center to establish, support and maintain relationships with internal and external referral entities, such as medical groups, IPA's, Health Plans and community physicians.

About the role

Working knowledge of MS Office products
Understanding of medical terminology as well as insurance programs and payors
Minimum 1 to 2 years experience in a Customer Service position within the health care environment
Demonstrated skill to communicate via telephone and handle extremely high volume of phone calls
Ability to problem solve, negotiate and research for answers
Ability to effectively communicate in a clear and concise manner
Ability to appropriately deal with stressful situations and individuals while remaining calm and professional

Responsibilities

• Establish, support and maintain relationships with internal and external referral entities
• Communicate with patients and healthcare providers regarding referrals and scheduling
• Manage patient information and ensure accurate record keeping
• Handle inquiries and concerns from patients and healthcare providers
• Research and resolve issues related to insurance coverage and payment processes
• Support the referral process by coordinating with various departments within the organization

Requirements

• Minimum 1 to 2 years experience in a Customer Service position within the health care environment
• Working knowledge of MS Office products
• Understanding of medical terminology as well as insurance programs and payors
• Demonstrated skill to communicate via telephone and handle extremely high volume of phone calls

Qualifications

• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese (preferred)

• Knowledge of hospital based registration/scheduling system
