Assistant II- Referral Center- FT Day Shift
Position Summary
Incumbent works in a high volume Referral Center to establish, support and maintain relationships with internal and external referral entities, such as medical groups, IPA's, Health Plans and community physicians.
About the Role
Working knowledge of MS Office products
Understanding of medical terminology as well as insurance programs and payors
Minimum 1 to 2 years experience in a Customer Service position within the health care environment
Demonstrated skill to communicate via telephone and handle extremely high volume of phone calls
Ability to problem solve, negotiate and research for answers
Ability to effectively communicate in a clear and concise manner
Ability to appropriately deal with stressful situations and individuals while remaining calm and professional
Responsibilities
- Establish, support and maintain relationships with internal and external referral entities
- Communicate with patients and providers regarding referrals and scheduling
- Manage patient inquiries and concerns related to referrals and services
- Handle high volume of phone calls and emails efficiently
- Research and resolve issues related to insurance coverage and payment processes
- Support the coordination of patient care between referring and receiving facilities
Requirements
- Working knowledge of MS Office products

Qualifications
- Knowledge of hospital based registration/scheduling system to register patients
- Problem solving, negotiation and research skills
- Clear and concise communication skills
- Ability to handle stressful situations professionally
Skills
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese (preferred)
