About the role

The University of California, Berkeley seeks applicants for four tenure-track (Assistant Professor) positions and one tenured (Associate or Full Professor) position in the area of “AI, Inequality, and Society” (AIIS).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to research and teaching in the field of AI, Inequality, and Society.
  • Collaborate with faculty from the Computer Science (CS), Sociology, Statistics, Information, and Law schools.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary research addressing societal impacts of AI technologies.

Requirements

  • A PhD in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Sociology, Statistics, Information Studies, or a related discipline.
  • Strong record of research and publication in AI, Inequality, and Society.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and teaching.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to advancing equity and inclusion in technology and society.

Skills

  • Expertise in AI and its societal implications.
  • Knowledge of sociological and statistical methods relevant to AI research.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research and teaching.
