About the role
The University of California, Berkeley seeks applicants for four tenure-track (Assistant Professor) positions and one tenured (Associate or Full Professor) position in the area of “AI, Inequality, and Society” (AIIS).
Responsibilities
- Contribute to research on how artificial intelligence systems can impact inequality and societal structures.
- Collaborate across disciplines within the CS division of EECS, Sociology, Statistics, Information, and Law.
- Develop innovative solutions to mitigate negative impacts of AI on society and promote equitable access to its benefits.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Sociology, Statistics, Information, or a related field.
- Research record demonstrating excellence in AI, inequality, and societal impact.
- Strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and teaching.
Qualifications
- Exceptional academic credentials and research track record.
- Experience working on issues of social justice and equity.
- Ability to engage with diverse communities and stakeholders.
Skills
- Expertise in machine learning, data science, and computational social science.
- Knowledge of sociological theories and methods relevant to AI and society.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
