About the Role
The University of Connecticut, Elisabeth DeLuca School of Nursing is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track/tenured Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position. The School offers opportunities to engage with centers such as the Nursing and Engineering Innovation Center and the International Center for Lifestory Innovations and Practice, as well as access to a Biobehavioral Laboratory with wet lab resources.
The School provides five nursing degree programs: Bachelor of Science (BS), Accelerated Bachelor of Science (CEIN/BS), Master of Science (MS), Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP), and Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.). The interprofessional curricula emphasize innovation, leadership, scholarship, evidence-based practice, and research.
UConn fosters a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, with opportunities for joint appointments across departments, programs, and Centers, including Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Public Health, Fine Arts, Law, and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to research and scholarship through extramural funding, high-quality publications, and national recognition (e.g., honorific awards, citations, performances, exhibits).
- Teach and mentor students at undergraduate and graduate levels, including innovative course development and instruction methods.
- Broaden participation among under-represented groups and integrate multicultural experiences into teaching and research.
- Provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques to meet diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.
- Engage in professional service activities.
- Teach at the Storrs campus and potentially at UConn’s regional campuses as part of the workload.
Requirements
- Earned doctorate in nursing or a related field with a Master’s degree in Nursing.
- Demonstrated active program of scholarship and research, including publications and potential for extramural funding.
- Experience teaching in higher education with documented positive student evaluations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to diversity and excellence in scholarship, teaching, and/or public engagement.
- Eligibility for RN licensure in Connecticut (valid by date of hire).
- For higher ranks (Associate/Full Professor), an excellent record of research, teaching, and involvement in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Record of research publications and grants in health equity, social determinants of health, parent-child health, support for acute/chronic conditions (e.g., symptoms, self-management), or biobehavioral studies of sleep and pain.
- Ph.D. in nursing.
- Completion of a post-doctoral fellowship.
- For advanced practice nurses, eligibility for APRN licensure in Connecticut.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence in areas of expertise.
- For Associate/Full Professor ranks: strong record of federally-funded research, high-impact publications, and leadership in professional organizations or curriculum development.

Appointment Terms
This is a 9-month tenure/tenure-track faculty appointment, initially subject to annual reappointment reviews. The anticipated start date is August 23, 2026. The primary appointment will be at the Storrs campus, with potential opportunities at regional campuses.
