Assistant/Associate/Full Professor

Elisabeth DeLuca School of Nursing at the University of Connecticut is seeking applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track or tenured faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The school encourages candidates with research expertise in health equity across the lifespan; social determinants of health; parent-child health; support for people with acute and chronic conditions, including symptoms and self-management; and biobehavioral studies of sleep and pain.

The Elisabeth DeLuca School of Nursing offers five degree programs: Bachelor of Science (BS), Accelerated Bachelor of Science (CEIN/BS), Master of Science (MS), Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP), and Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD). The interprofessional curricula emphasize innovation, leadership, scholarship, evidence-based practice, and research. The school is entering a transformational growth phase, including a new state-of-the-art building and programmatic support for dynamic nursing education.

Faculty have opportunities to engage with school centers such as the Nursing and Engineering Innovation Center and the International Center for Lifestory Innovations and Practice. The Biobehavioral Laboratory provides a wet lab and resources to support behavioral research. UConn offers a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment for scholarship and teaching, with opportunities for joint appointments across multiple schools and colleges.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to research and scholarship through extramural funding, high-quality publications, and national recognition.
• Teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels using innovative methods.
• Develop and deliver courses that integrate multicultural experiences and address diverse learning styles.
• Broaden participation among under-represented groups and support diversity in the learning experience.
• Engage in professional service activities and interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques to meet diverse intellectual interests.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in nursing or a related field with a Master’s degree in Nursing.
• Demonstrated active program of scholarship and research through publications and funding, with potential for extramural funding.
• Experience teaching in higher education with documented positive student evaluations.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to diversity and excellence in scholarship, teaching, and public engagement.
• Eligibility for RN licensure in Connecticut (valid by date of hire).

Preferred Qualifications

• Record of research publications and grants in health equity, social determinants of health, parent-child health, chronic condition support, or biobehavioral studies of sleep and pain.
• Ph.D. in nursing and completion of a post-doctoral fellowship.
• Eligibility for APRN licensure in Connecticut (for advanced practice nurses).
• Demonstrated teaching excellence in areas of expertise.
• For Associate/Full Professor ranks: strong record of federally-funded research, high-impact publications, and leadership in professional organizations or curriculum development.

Schedule

This is a 9-month tenure/tenure-track faculty appointment, initially subject to annual reappointment reviews. The anticipated start date is August 23, 2026. Faculty may teach at the Storrs campus or UConn’s regional campuses as part of their workload.
