About the Department

The Center for Preparedness and Response (CPR) within CDPH is dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of Californians during public health emergencies. CPR coordinates statewide preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts for events such as natural disasters, disease outbreaks, bioterrorism, and other emergencies. Responsibilities include developing emergency response plans, training health professionals, conducting exercises to test response capabilities, and providing resources and guidance to strengthen California’s public health infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate emergency response exercises, trainings, and evaluations to strengthen statewide public health preparedness.
• Independently develop and implement complex exercises and drills, providing feedback and documenting lessons learned to improve plans, procedures, and policies.
• Lead the creation of After Action Reports and Improvement Plans, track corrective actions, and report progress to management.
• Plan and deliver a variety of emergency response trainings, collaborate with subject matter experts, and enhance eLearning and webinar content.
• Oversee development of the Multi-Year Integrated Preparedness Plan and ensure alignment with federal grant requirements.
• Coordinate with local jurisdictions, participate in statewide and federal training activities, and travel occasionally.

Pay

Classification: ANALYST II
Salary Range: $6,031.00 - $7,547.00 per month

New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

ANALYST I
Range A: $3,861.00 - $4,839.00 per month
Range B: $4,181.00 - $5,233.00 per month
Range C: $5,014.00 - $6,276.00 per month

This position is subject to the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025, which temporarily reduces the monthly base pay by 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown do not reflect this reduction.
