Key Responsibilities
- Carry out intermediate-level sample preparation and analysis using standard methods (e.g., USP, FCC, EPA, ASTM, NIOSH methods)
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation with minimal supervision (e.g., balance, auto titrator, LECO TGA, CVAA)
- Analyze and interpret data; report findings with attention to accuracy and compliance
- Identify deviations from expected results or instrumentation issues and escalate appropriately
- Assist in troubleshooting routine equipment malfunctions or analytical anomalies
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation per SOPs and QA/QC requirements
- Adhere to all laboratory safety procedures and contribute to safe lab practices
- Mentor and provide guidance to entry-level (Analyst I or Technician) staff
- Participate in audits, quality reviews, and internal improvement initiatives
- Make routine technical decisions within standard procedures
- Refer complex or non-conforming issues to supervisor or senior staff
- Apply judgment to troubleshoot analytical issues and ensure accurate results
- May assist in refining procedures or improving efficiency within the lab
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Materials Science, or related technical field
- 2–4 years of laboratory experience in a technical or analytical environment
- Prior experience operating laboratory instruments and interpreting basic data sets
- Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and safety practices
- Competent in troubleshooting routine issues and performing basic maintenance
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; experience with LIMS preferred
