Analyst II

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out intermediate-level sample preparation and analysis using standard methods (e.g., USP, FCC, EPA, ASTM, NIOSH methods)
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation with minimal supervision (e.g., balance, auto titrator, LECO TGA, CVAA)
• Analyze and interpret data; report findings with attention to accuracy and compliance
• Identify deviations from expected results or instrumentation issues and escalate appropriately
• Assist in troubleshooting routine equipment malfunctions or analytical anomalies
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation per SOPs and QA/QC requirements
• Adhere to all laboratory safety procedures and contribute to safe lab practices
• Mentor and provide guidance to entry-level (Analyst I or Technician) staff
• Participate in audits, quality reviews, and internal improvement initiatives
• Make routine technical decisions within standard procedures
• Refer complex or non-conforming issues to supervisor or senior staff
• Apply judgment to troubleshoot analytical issues and ensure accurate results
• May assist in refining procedures or improving efficiency within the lab

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Materials Science, or related technical field
• 2–4 years of laboratory experience in a technical or analytical environment
• Prior experience operating laboratory instruments and interpreting basic data sets
• Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and safety practices
• Competent in troubleshooting routine issues and performing basic maintenance
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple priorities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; experience with LIMS preferred
