Position Details

The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking an Administrative Section Analyst with knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Duties

  • Assumes the primary administrative liaison responsibilities for ABES on both external licensing issues and various administrative functions.
  • Independently researches and responds to technical licensing inquiries received from the insurance industry.
  • Independently monitors the LABB's budget, including the accounting of expenditures by LABB.
  • Independently researches and drafts responses to insurance industry complaints regarding licensing matters.
  • Independently compiles monthly licensing statistics, which may include statistics from LABB and CLBB.
  • Independently monitors all contracts between LABB and CLBB, with external vendors.
  • Acts as the lead in responding to various external surveys.
  • Maintains Department's Agents & Brokers webpages frequently asked questions (FAQ), licensing forms, notices, etc.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.

Special Requirements

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The appointee is required to complete a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700), which includes an Assuming Office filing within 30 days of appointment, annual filings, and a Leaving Office filing within 30 days of physical separation. Non-compliance with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may result in the voiding of appointment, financial penalties, or enforcement actions.

With annual direct premiums of $340 billion, California is the largest insurance market in the United States and the fourth largest insurance market in the world. Nearly 1,400 dedicated employees work at CDI to oversee more than 1,400 insurance companies and license more than 425,000 agents, brokers, adjusters, and business entities.

Job Description

Under supervision of the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) of the Administrative and Business Entity Section (ABES) in the Licensing and Administrative Business Bureau (LABB), this position assumes the primary administrative liaison responsibilities for ABES on both external licensing issues and various administrative functions (i.e., webpage form formatting, and variety of statistical reports).

Qualifications

Successful candidates must be able to pass a fingerprint-based background review prior to appointment.
