We provide timely, independent and impartial due process hearings and produce timely, legally correct decisions. We maintain the integrity of the state hearing process, provide efficient administration of the state hearing process, communicate with counties, claimants, and others to achieve an efficient and effective state hearing process and identify and influence various issues that arise in the state hearings process that appear inconsistent with existing law or policy. Job Description And Duties Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders which includes staff and judges from other units within SHD, claimants, authorized representatives, advocates and program representatives. Provide assistance to shareholders by analyzing complex issues related to the Scope of Benefits caseload, researching the status of cases in the Appeals Case Management System (ACMS), providing responses to stakeholder inquiries, escalating inquiries when needed and updating information in case files. Perform duties to assist with finalizing hearing schedules. Review of written/verbal hearing requests received from claimants to add hearing requests to ACMS. Research and analyze requests to determine if claim is valid and to assign to appropriate DHCS or DOR program. Correspond with DHCS programs and claimants to gather additional information when needed. Analyze facts against appropriate regulatory and policy provisions to determine if prehearing tasks needed for expedited hearing requests, administrative dismissal or bifurcation. Prepare prehearing task and elevate for review by Administrative Law Judge when needed. Assist with maintaining organizational program material to ensure information is up to date and accurate. Assists with responding to complex program questions in accordance with Federal and State regulations. Assist with providing interpretation of State and Federal eligibility statues, regulations, policies and guidelines to the general public and internal and external stakeholders as related to the Scope of Benefits caseloads. Performs other related duties pertaining to SHD. The Department of Social Services does not participate in E-Verify for employment authorization purposes.
