About the role

The Alternative Delivery Manager plays a critical role in the development of large, complex energy, infrastructure, marine, and transportation projects. This position involves providing direction and management for all phases of alternative/collaborative delivery projects, including business development, teaming, pursuits and proposals, and active contract and design management. The role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to multitask, and the capacity to make well-informed decisions quickly while working with internal and external teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and management for all phases of alternative/collaborative delivery projects.
  • Engage in all phases of the project lifecycle, from business development to contract and design management.
  • Exceed client expectations through goal-oriented, organized, and professional work.
  • Multitask effectively while managing work with internal Michels teams and external partners/clients.
  • Proactively communicate with clients and team members.
  • Provide leadership and project management guidance on design-build pursuits and project delivery.
  • Manage client relationships during project pursuits and delivery.
  • Develop win strategies, pricing, and project scheduling.
  • Create technical writing, processes/protocols, and manage change.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of project management, telecommunications, or construction management experience.
  • Engineering, permitting, and construction experience specific to telecommunications and large-scale complex fiber optic buildouts nationally.
  • Experience in key project leadership roles and strategic planning with PM/PMO skills on large-scale fiber optic builds.
  • Management experience leading a team preferred.
  • Relationship-building experience with external parties, including regulatory and permitting entities.
  • Experience with transportation engineering or construction projects (e.g., Highway DOT, bridges, foundations, retaining walls, federal projects).
  • Understanding of alternative delivery projects (e.g., design-build, CMGC, progressive design-build).
  • Understanding of scheduling, estimating, and project controls software.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Travel requirements may exceed 50% depending on assignment and project needs.
