Alternative Delivery Manager, Telecommunications - Michels Preconstruction Services, Inc.

About the role

The Alternative Delivery Manager provides direction and management for all phases of alternative/collaborative delivery projects. This position involves every stage of the project lifecycle—from business development, teaming, pursuits, and proposals to active contract and design management. Success requires excellent verbal and written communication, the ability to multitask while collaborating with internal and external teams, and the capacity to make well-informed decisions quickly.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage alternative/collaborative delivery projects through all phases.
• Engage in business development, teaming, pursuits, and proposal activities.
• Oversee active contract and design management.
• Communicate proactively with clients and internal teams.
• Provide leadership and project management guidance on design-build pursuits and delivery.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, general/sub-contractors, and regulatory entities.
• Apply strategic planning and PM/PMO skills to large-scale fiber optic builds.
• Manage client relationships during project pursuits and delivery.
• Create technical documentation, processes, and protocols; manage change.
• Utilize scheduling, estimating, and project controls software.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of project management, telecommunications, or construction management experience.
• Engineering, permitting, and construction experience specific to telecommunications and large-scale fiber optic buildouts nationally.
• Experience in key project leadership roles and strategic planning with PM/PMO skills.
• Proven client management experience in project pursuits and delivery.
• Relationship-building experience with regulatory and permitting entities.
• Understanding of win strategies, pricing, project scheduling, and alternative delivery methods (e.g., design-build, CMGC, progressive design-build).
• Experience in transportation engineering or construction projects (e.g., Highway DOT, bridges, foundations, retaining walls, federal projects).
• Travel requirements may exceed 50% depending on assignment and project needs.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
