Alternative Delivery Manager, Telecommunications - Michels Preconstruction Services, Inc.
About the role
The Michels Preconstruction Services, Inc. team plays a critical role in the development of large, complex energy, infrastructure, marine, and transportation projects. The Preconstruction Services team consists of construction and technical professionals working collaboratively with customers to develop creative solutions for turning construction ideas into reliable outcomes. This position focuses on providing direction and management for all phases of alternative/collaborative delivery projects, involving business development, teaming, pursuits & proposals, and active contract and design management.
Critical for success in this role are excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to multitask while managing both internal and external teams, and the ability to make well-informed decisions quickly.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction and management for all phases of alternative/collaborative delivery projects.
- Involvement in all phases of the project lifecycle, including business development, teaming, pursuits & proposals, and active contract and design management.
- Exceed client expectations through goal-oriented, organized, and professional project execution.
- Proactively communicate with clients and internal teams.
- Provide leadership and project management guidance on design-build pursuits and project delivery.
- Manage relationships with clients, general/sub-contractors, and regulatory/permitting entities.
- Develop win strategies, pricing, and project scheduling.
- Create and manage technical writing, processes/protocols, and change management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of project management, telecommunications, or construction management experience.
- Engineering, permitting, and construction experience specific to telecommunications and large-scale complex fiber optic buildouts nationally.
- Experience in key project leadership roles and strategic planning with PM/PMO skills on large-scale fiber optic builds.
- Considerable experience in client management for project pursuits and delivery.
- Relationship-building experience with external parties, including regulatory and permitting entities.
- Experience with alternative delivery projects (e.g., design-build, CMGC, or progressive design-build).
- Construction experience in transportation engineering or transportation construction projects (e.g., Highway DOT, bridges, foundations, retaining walls, or federal projects).
- Understanding of scheduling, estimating, and project controls software.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Travel requirements may exceed 50% depending on assignment and project requirements.
Preferred qualifications: PE & DBIA Certification.
