About the role

The Alternative Delivery Manager provides direction and management for all phases of alternative/collaborative delivery projects. This position requires involvement in every stage of the project lifecycle—from business development, teaming, and pursuits & proposals to active contract and design management. Success depends on excellent verbal and written communication, the ability to multitask across internal Michels teams and external partners/clients, and the capacity to make well-informed decisions quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all phases of alternative/collaborative delivery projects.
  • Engage in business development, teaming, pursuits, proposals, and contract/design management.
  • Exceed client expectations through goal-oriented, organized, and professional execution.
  • Communicate proactively with clients and internal/external teams.
  • Provide leadership and project management guidance on design-build pursuits and project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, general/sub-contractors, and regulatory/permitting entities.
  • Apply PM/PMO skills to large-scale, complex fiber optic buildouts.
  • Create and manage win strategies, pricing, project scheduling, technical writing, and change management protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of project management, telecommunications, or construction management experience.
  • Engineering, permitting, and construction experience specific to telecommunications and large-scale, complex fiber optic buildouts nationally.
  • Experience in key project leadership roles and strategic planning with PM/PMO skills.
  • Proven client management experience in project pursuits and delivery.
  • Relationship-building experience with regulatory and permitting entities.
  • Understanding of win strategies, pricing, project scheduling, and technical writing.
  • Construction experience in transportation engineering or transportation projects (e.g., Highway DOT, bridges, foundations, retaining walls, federal projects).
  • Experience with alternative delivery projects (e.g., design-build, CMGC, progressive design-build).
  • Proficiency in scheduling, estimating, and project controls software.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Travel requirements may exceed 50% depending on assignment and project needs.

Qualifications (Desired)

  • PE (Professional Engineer) Certification.
  • DBIA (Design-Build Institute of America) Certification.
