Duties

  • Supervise operations, maintenance, security, and crash/fire activities for Kapalua Airport.
  • Deals with airlines, tenants, licenses, permittees, personnel, and the general public as the representative of the Airport District Manager.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of semi-skilled or skilled work experience in one or more building or mechanical trades.
  • Successful completion of coursework at an accredited technical school or community college in a building or mechanical trade may substitute for this experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester credit hours for six (6) months of experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.
  • Supervisory aptitude demonstrated through regular or special assignments involving supervisory responsibilities.
  • Valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
  • SIDA Clearance - Federal Criminal History Records Check.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements:

  • Specialized Experience: Four (4) years of semi-skilled or skilled work experience in one or more building or mechanical trades.
  • Successful completion of coursework at an accredited technical school or community college in a building or mechanical trade may be substituted for this experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester credit hours for six (6) months of experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.
  • Supervisory Aptitude: Applicants for the Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker III level MUST possess supervisory aptitude.
  • Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
  • Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Clearance - Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the SIDA clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within ten years from the date of the application.
