Airbus Helicopters is seeking an Aircraft Sheetmetal Technician to join the H125 Final Assembly Line team in Columbus, MS. You will perform sheetmetal-related work on assigned aircraft or parts as part of a team focused on quality, productivity, and efficiency.

About the role

Based in Columbus, MS, you will work on the H125 assembly line, contributing to the production of UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army and H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform layout of sheet metal parts by measuring and scribing in preparation for cutting and forming operations.
  • Cut raw materials allowing for bend requirements, flanges, and crimping.
  • Provide nesting arrangements for cutting the maximum number of parts from standard size metal sheets.
  • Prepare patterns and/or templates to simplify manufacturing processes and ensure proper dimensions.
  • Install sheet metal parts and assemblies in aircraft, ensuring installations do not endanger aircraft structure or systems operation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four (4) years of related aviation experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical blueprints and drawings.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • A current A&P license is preferred but not required.
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined under ITAR (U.S. Citizen, green card holder, or person covered under an existing ITAR license).

  • Onsite: 95% onsite work.
  • Vision: Ability to see and read computer screens, documents, reports, and engineering drawings (100%).
  • Hearing: Ability to participate in conversations and hear production floor sounds, including safety warnings (100%).
  • Speaking: Ability to communicate in conversations and meetings (100%).
  • Equipment Operation: Ability to operate office equipment and production tools, including hydraulic lifts (100%).
  • Carrying: Ability to carry documents, tools, and equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg (100%).
  • Lifting: Ability to lift documents, tools, and equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg (100%).
  • Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push and pull small office furniture and tools (50%).
  • Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods (10%).
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Ability to squat or kneel to retrieve items (10%).
  • Standing: Ability to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor (80%).
  • Travel: Ability to travel independently and at short notice (5%).
  • Walking: Ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces (50%).

Required PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and/or protective gloves as needed for site or customer requirements. Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits.
