About the role

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Senior Aircraft Sheetmetal Technician to join the H125 team in Columbus, MS. You will perform detailed sheetmetal modifications and repairs on airframes or parts as assigned by the lead technician, including assembly, fabrication, and installation of sheetmetal components, aircraft parts, and composite repair of helicopters to support the delivery schedule.

Working environment

Located on the eastern border of Mississippi, Columbus is home to Airbus Helicopters’ manufacturing and assembly lines and the Center of Excellence for the North America region. The facility produces UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army and H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers. Responsibilities

  • Perform sheetmetal installations, modifications, and repairs on Airbus Helicopters airframes (90% of role).
  • Install major and minor modifications per STC instructions.
  • Cut, join, and clear sheetmetal structures per design drawings and standard practices.
  • Prepare patterns and/or templates to simplify installation processes and ensure proper dimensions.
  • Ensure installations do not endanger aircraft structure or systems operation.
  • Adjust latches, windows, cowlings, and covers.
  • Install prototype parts and close-tolerance materials using engineering blueprints for certification.
  • Perform sealing of installations to meet quality guidelines for form and function.
  • Adjust installations to ensure proper fit.
  • Use standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices, and test equipment.
  • Create help tools and jigs to make installations repeatable and easier for lower-level technicians.
  • Manufacture doublers and small parts as necessary.
  • Use Fiche Techniques, technical documentation, MES, and SAP (10% of role).
  • Read blueprints, drawings, parts lists, and technical documentation as required.
  • Understand service bulletins, inspection reports, and other technical data.
  • Refer to documentation (electronic/paper) for proper task guidance.
  • Document labor efforts in MES, SAP, and paper requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum six (6) years of sheetmetal installation and/or repair experience on aircraft.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and apply standard shop practices in fabrication and repair modifications.
  • Current Airframe or Powerplant license or applicable trade school is a plus but not required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Physical Requirements

  • 90% onsite work.
  • Able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment.
