Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Senior Aircraft Sheetmetal Technician to join the H125 team in Columbus, MS. You will perform detailed sheetmetal modifications and repairs on airframes or parts as assigned by the lead technician.

About the role

You will be part of a team focused on quality, productivity, and efficiency, ensuring the highest standards of care and safety in each aircraft assembled and maintained. The role involves 90% installations, modifications, and repairs, and 10% reporting and cleanup.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sheet metal installations, modifications, and repairs on Airbus Helicopters airframes.
  • Install major and minor modifications per STC instructions.
  • Cut, join, and clear sheet metal structures per design drawings and standard practices.
  • Prepare patterns and/or templates to simplify installation processes and ensure proper dimensions.
  • Ensure installations are attached without endangering aircraft structure or systems operation.
  • Make adjustments to latches, windows, cowlings, and covers.
  • Install prototype parts and close tolerance materials using engineering blueprints for certification.
  • Perform sealing of installations to meet quality guidelines for form and function.
  • Adjust installations to ensure proper fit on new modifications.
  • Use standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices, and test equipment.
  • Create help tools and jigs to make installations repeatable and easier for lower-level technicians.
  • Manufacture doublers and small parts as necessary.
  • Use Fiche Techniques, technical documentation, MES, and SAP.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, parts lists, and technical documentation as required.
  • Understand service bulletins, inspection reports, and other technical data.
  • Refer to documentation (electronic/paper) for proper guidance on all tasks.
  • Document labor efforts in MES, SAP, and paper requirements as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of sheetmetal installation and/or repair experience on aircraft.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and apply standard shop practices.
  • Current Airframe or Powerplant license or applicable trade school is a plus but not required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be a US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder, or person covered under existing ITAR license).

Physical Requirements

  • 90% onsite work.
  • Vision: Able to see and read computer screens, electronic equipment, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: Able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone, and hear safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: Able to speak in conversations, meetings, and deliver information.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate office and personal electronic equipment, and some production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
  • Lifting: Able to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment/tools.
  • Sitting: Able to sit for long periods during meetings or while working on a computer.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items on low shelving.
  • Standing: Able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Required PPE includes Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
  • Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits; appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required.
