Aircraft Mechanical Technician A - H125 FAL

Airbus Helicopters is seeking an Aircraft Mechanical Technician A to join the H125 Final Assembly Line team in Columbus, MS. You will perform mechanical work on assigned aircraft or parts, contributing to the assembly and maintenance of helicopters for civil, commercial, and military customers.

You will be part of a team focused on quality, productivity, and efficiency, ensuring the highest standards of care and safety in each aircraft assembled. The role is based in Columbus, MS, where Airbus produces the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army and the H125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform fabrication, assembly, installation, repair, replacement, adjustment, and alignment of parts and components (80% of role).
• Conduct functional checks of systems for proper operation.
• Work from three-dimensional blueprints, sketches, diagrams, technical manuals, work orders, inspection reports, and similar documentation.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions or failures on aircraft systems, including:
  • Aircraft equipment furnishings
  • Fire protection systems
  • Fuel systems
  • Hydraulics
  • Landing gear
  • Doors, fuselage, and stabilizer
  • Rotor systems
  • Power plant and engine controls

Requirements

• Minimum of four years of related aviation experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and technical instructions.
• Capability to work in cramped and awkward positions to perform tasks.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to handle heavy components and work in areas with exposure to chemicals and fumes.
• US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder, or person covered under an existing ITAR license).

Physical Requirements

• Onsite: 95%
• Vision: Able to see and read computer screens, electronic equipment, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
• Hearing: Able to hear conversations in person and via teleconference/phone, as well as production floor sounds, including safety warnings or alarms.
• Speaking: Able to participate in conversations, meetings, and communications.
• Equipment Operation: Able to operate office equipment (computers, phones, copiers) and production tools (e.g., hydraulic lifts).
• Carrying: Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
• Lifting: Able to lift up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
• Pushing/Pulling: Able to push and pull small office furniture, equipment, and tools.
• Sitting: Able to sit for long periods during meetings or computer work (10% of the time).
• Squatting/Kneeling: Able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items on low shelving (10% of the time).
• Standing: Able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor (80% of the time).
• Travel: Able to travel independently and at short notice (10% of the time).
• Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces (50% of the time).

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required: Safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and/or protective gloves as required by site or customer site.
