Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) Investigator

About the role

The ACE Investigator position at CGS involves assisting a large Federal agency initiative. Key responsibilities include generating new investigations, continuing existing investigations, and performing ancillary investigations. Duties also include preparing detailed reports, analyzing large-scale data, and supporting AUSAs and attorneys.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new investigations and continue existing ones involving fraud in healthcare, contracting, and grants.
  • Meet regularly with ACE attorneys and designated agency personnel to discuss fraud investigations.
  • Utilize electronic databases to identify documents, witnesses, and physical evidence.
  • Prepare reports on investigation progress for AUSAs and attorneys.
  • Analyze health care claims data, financial transaction data, and other records to develop investigative leads.
  • Examine books, ledgers, payrolls, cost reports, billing statements, invoices, correspondence, and computer data.
  • Interview witnesses, prepare and serve subpoenas, and assist with depositions and sworn witness examinations.
  • Develop and refine proof required for legal responsibility determinations.
  • Assist with investigation planning, scheduling, and resource identification.

Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Experience with document review/management platforms such as Relativity and analyzing claims data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws relevant to investigations.

Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Experience with document review/management platforms such as Relativity.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and draw insights.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and develop investigative strategies.
