About the role
The ACE Investigator position at CGS involves assisting a large Federal agency initiative by providing assistance in fraud detection and investigation. Key responsibilities include generating new investigations, supporting ongoing investigations, and preparing detailed reports for prosecutors.
Responsibilities
- Generate new investigations and continue with ongoing investigations involving fraud in healthcare, contracting, and grants.
- Meet with ACE attorneys and designated agency personnel to generate fraud investigations.
- Perform a variety of ancillary investigations-related services in support of assigned fraud cases.
- Utilize electronic databases to identify documents, witnesses, and physical evidence.
- Prepare reports on the progress of investigations for use by AUSAs and supervisory attorneys.
- Analyze large-scale hard-copy and electronic data to develop investigative leads and determine their relevance.
- Gather and analyze facts including witness statements, timelines, and scientific or technical data.
- Examine books, ledgers, payrolls, cost reports, billing statements, invoices, correspondence, computer data, and other records.
- Develop and refine proof required to assist in determining legal responsibility for violations.
- Assist with in-person and/or telephonic interviews of witnesses, depositions, and sworn witness examinations.
- Prepare and serve subpoenas for documentary materials, interrogatory answers, or witness testimony.
- Develop an understanding of applicable laws and devise methods for obtaining, preserving, and presenting evidence.
- Contribute to the planning, scheduling, and conducting of investigations.
Qualifications
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access, and other databases.
- Experience with document review/management platforms such as Relativity and analyzing claims data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, or local laws.
