About the role

The ACE Investigator position at CGS involves assisting a large Federal agency initiative. Key responsibilities include generating new investigations, continuing existing investigations, and supporting civil actions involving fraud in healthcare, contracting, and grants. Duties also include performing ancillary investigations, preparing reports, examining records, and developing evidence.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new investigations and continue ongoing investigations involving fraud in healthcare, contracting, and grants.
  • Meet with ACE attorneys and designated agency personnel to generate fraud investigations.
  • Perform a variety of ancillary investigations-related services in support of assigned fraud investigations.
  • Utilize electronic databases to identify documents, witnesses, and physical evidence.
  • Prepare reports on investigation progress for AUSAs and supervisory attorneys, including significant findings, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Analyze large-scale hard-copy and electronic data to develop investigative leads and determine their relevance.
  • Gather and analyze facts, including witness statements, timelines, and scientific or technical data.
  • Examine books, ledgers, payrolls, cost reports, billing statements, invoices, correspondence, and other records.
  • Develop and refine proof required for legal responsibility determinations.
  • Assist with in-person and/or telephonic interviews, depositions, and sworn witness examinations.
  • Prepare and serve subpoenas for documentary materials, interrogatory answers, or witness testimony.
  • Determine proof required to affix responsibility for violations and devise methods for obtaining, preserving, and presenting evidence.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct investigations, and identify required resources.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required.

Qualifications

  • Computer Skills: Ability to use MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access, and other databases; experience with document review/management platforms, analyzing claims data, and docketing software is a plus.
  • Experience: Extensive knowledge and skills in investigative techniques and fraud detection.
  • Communication Skills: Professional and effective interaction with all levels of staff.
  • Deadline Management: Ability to meet established deadlines.
  • Teamwork: Works as a team player in a professional office setting.
  • Laws Knowledge: Understanding of applicable federal, state, or local laws.

Skills

  • Independent thinking and development of investigative strategies.
  • Ability to analyze and understand a wide variety of documents, including legal and non-legal documents.
  • Professionalism and courtesy in interactions with colleagues and clients.
  • Knowledge of AI tools used in the hiring process.
