About the role
The ACE Investigator position at CGS involves assisting a large Federal agency initiative. Key responsibilities include generating new investigations, continuing existing investigations, and performing ancillary investigations. Duties also include preparing detailed reports, analyzing large-scale data, and developing investigative strategies.
Responsibilities
- Generate new investigations and continue ongoing investigations involving fraud in healthcare, contracting, and grants.
- Meet with ACE attorneys and designated agency personnel to generate fraud investigations.
- Perform a variety of ancillary investigations-related services in support of assigned fraud cases.
- Utilize electronic databases to identify documents, witnesses, and physical evidence.
- Prepare reports on investigation progress for AUSAs and supervisory attorneys, including significant findings, analyses, and recommendations.
- Analyze large-scale hard-copy and electronic data to develop investigative leads and determine their relevance.
- Gather and analyze facts, including witness statements, timelines, and scientific or technical data.
- Examine books, ledgers, payrolls, cost reports, billing statements, invoices, correspondence, and computer data.
- Develop and refine proof required for litigation or settlement purposes.
- Assist with in-person and/or telephonic interviews of witnesses, depositions, and sworn witness examinations.
- Prepare and serve subpoenas for documentary materials, interrogatory answers, or witness testimony.
- Understand and apply relevant federal, state, or local laws.
- Determine proof required to affix responsibility for violations and devise methods for obtaining, preserving, and presenting evidence.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct investigations, and identify any required resources.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required.
Qualifications
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access, and other databases.
- Experience with document review/management platforms such as Relativity, analyzing claims data, and using docketing software.
- Excellent communication skills, able to work professionally with all levels of staff.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively in a professional setting.
- Understanding of federal, state, or local laws relevant to investigations.
