Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) Investigator
About the role
The ACE Investigator position at CGS involves assisting a large Federal agency initiative with fraud detection and investigation. Key responsibilities include generating new investigations, supporting ongoing investigations, and preparing detailed reports for prosecutors.
Responsibilities
- Generate new investigations and support ongoing investigations involving fraud in healthcare, contracting, and grants.
- Meet with ACE attorneys and agency personnel to generate fraud investigations.
- Perform a variety of ancillary investigations-related services in support of assigned fraud cases.
- Utilize electronic databases to identify documents, witnesses, and physical evidence.
- Prepare reports on investigation progress for AUSAs and supervisory attorneys.
- Analyze large-scale data, such as health care claims data, financial transaction data, and accounting records.
- Examine books, ledgers, payrolls, cost reports, billing statements, invoices, correspondence, and other records.
- Interview witnesses, prepare and serve subpoenas, and assist with depositions and sworn witness examinations.
- Develop and refine proof required to assist in determining legal responsibility for violations.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and conducting investigations, and identify required resources.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge and skills in investigative techniques and fraud detection.
- Ability to use MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access, and other databases.
- Experience with document review/management platforms such as Relativity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professionalism and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work as part of a team.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in investigative roles, preferably in government or law enforcement.
- Licenses/Certifications: None required, but some positions may require specific certifications.
Skills
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using various software tools and databases.

Pay
Salary range: $70,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
