Advanced Urgent Care RN (30 hours/week Olympia)

About the Role

Provide nursing care to a defined group of patients, adhering to Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington ambulatory Nursing Care Standards, the Nursing Code of Ethics, and Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington policies. Coordinate and facilitate healthcare services for patients across the healthcare delivery system. The Urgent Care RN will work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment similar to a free-standing emergency department, serving patients of all ages from neonates to geriatrics with a wide range of chief complaints, including neurological, cardiac, and minor injury or illness.

This is a 30-hour-per-week position based in Olympia, Washington, following a 2-week rotation schedule: Week 1: Friday, Saturday; Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday.

Responsibilities

• Using the nursing process, provide ongoing assessment of the nursing care needs of a defined group of patients and develop a written plan of care.
• Assist patients and families in developing healthcare goals as part of the individualized plan of care.
• Determine priorities of patient care based on essential needs and available resources.
• Provide nursing interventions safely and competently, including telephone consultation to patients and families.
• Evaluate patient responses to care and modify the plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Demonstrate understanding of the physiologic and psychological effects of normal aging and provide age-specific care (Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Geriatric).
• Collaborate, communicate, and coordinate with other healthcare team members in planning and implementing care.
• Assess needs for patient hospitalization, initiate nursing admission database, and coordinate discharge planning with inpatient staff and physicians.
• Communicate recognition of patients' and families' psychosocial, cultural, and emotional needs.
• Orient patients and families to nursing services, the role of the professional nurse, and the Consumer Bill of Rights and Responsibilities.
• Identify patients' educational needs, develop an educational component for each care plan, and provide teaching/counseling.
• Assess patient lifestyle risk factors and integrate health promotion and preventive aspects of care.
• Promote patient self-care responsibility for meeting their own health needs.
• Adhere to documentation, safety, infection control, and professional standards.
• Identify own learning needs and participate in continued education, staff orientation, and student education activities.
• Participate in quality assurance activities, professional development, and nursing research.
• Maintain a professional appearance consistent with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington dress code policy.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Registered Nurse License (Washington) or Compact License at hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire (preferred at hire).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) at hire.
• Communication, problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ambulatory care nursing experience.
• Primary nursing or case-management experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Emergency department nursing experience.

Pay

• $2.00/hour Acute Care Premium for Urgent Care, Perioperative Services, and Capitol Hill Inpatient Unit.
• $2.00/hour Location Premium for onsite work at Bellevue Medical Center and Capitol Hill Campus.
