Advanced Urgent Care RN (30 hours/week Bellevue)

Schedule: Alternating weeks – Week 1: Sunday, Monday; Week 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday (30 hours/week).

About the role

Provide nursing care to a defined group of patients, adhering to Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington ambulatory Nursing Care Standards, the Nursing Code of Ethics, and Kaiser policies. Coordinate and facilitate healthcare services for patients across the healthcare delivery system. The Urgent Care RN delivers care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment similar to a free-standing emergency department, serving patients of all ages (neonates to geriatrics) with diverse chief complaints, including neurological, cardiac, and minor injury or illness.

Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process to assess ongoing care needs for a defined group of patients, including nursing diagnosis and individualized care planning.
• Develop and implement a written plan of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Determine care priorities based on patient needs and available resources.
• Provide safe, competent nursing interventions and educate patients/families about care plans.
• Offer telephone consultation to patients and families.
• Evaluate patient responses to care and adjust plans as needed, recognizing changes in status.
• Demonstrate understanding of physiologic and psychological effects of aging and adapt care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric populations.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to plan and implement care, including hospitalization and discharge planning.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families about psychosocial, cultural, and emotional needs.
• Orient patients to nursing services, healthcare team roles, and the Consumer Bill of Rights and Responsibilities.
• Assess and address patient educational needs, providing teaching and counseling aligned with medical care plans.
• Promote patient compliance with therapeutic and medical regimens.
• Assess lifestyle risk factors and integrate health promotion and preventive care into nursing assessments.
• Develop and implement plans to improve patient health status and promote self-care responsibility.
• Adhere to documentation, safety, infection control, and reporting standards.
• Identify learning needs and participate in continuing education, staff orientation, and student education.
• Collaborate in performance reviews, quality assurance activities, and nursing research.
• Maintain professional work habits and appearance consistent with Kaiser policies.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Washington state Registered Nurse license (or Compact License) at hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) at hire.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ambulatory care or emergency department nursing experience.
• Primary nursing or case-management experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) at hire.
