About the role

The Urgent Care RN provides nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment that acts similarly to a free-standing emergency department. Patient populations include all ages, from neonates to geriatrics, with chief complaints ranging from neurological, cardiac, and minor injury or illness. The RN is an integral member of the Health Care team, coordinating and facilitating care in collaboration with providers and other Urgent Care staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing assessment of nursing care needs for a defined group of patients using the nursing process and nursing diagnosis
  • Develop and maintain a written plan of care; assist patients and families in developing health care goals
  • Determine priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available resources
  • Provide nursing interventions safely and competently; provide patients and families with information preceding interventions
  • Provide telephone consultation to patients and families
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of patient's response to care; anticipate and recognize changes in patient status and modify care plan in collaboration with the health care team
  • Demonstrate understanding of physiologic and psychological effects of normal aging across all age populations served (Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Geriatric)
  • Collaborate, communicate, and coordinate with other health care team members in planning and implementing care
  • Assess needs of patients requiring hospitalization; initiate nursing admission database and discharge planning
  • Recognize and communicate patients' and families' psychosocial, cultural, and emotional needs
  • Orient patients and families to the role of the professional nurse, nursing services available, and means of access
  • Identify patient educational needs as part of nursing assessment; develop educational components for each care plan
  • Provide teaching/counseling congruent with patient learning needs and medical plan of care; encourage compliance with therapeutic regimens
  • Assess patient lifestyle risk factors; integrate health promotion and preventive aspects of care
  • Adhere to KFHPW documentation, safety, and infection control standards
  • Participate in continued education, staff orientation, student education, and multidisciplinary quality assurance activities
  • Participate in professional activities and nursing research; incorporate research findings into practice
  • Maintain professional work habits and appearance consistent with KFHPW policies

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program
  • Registered Nurse License (Washington) required at hire OR Compact License required at hire
  • Basic Life Support required at hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support required at hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire
  • Communication, problem-solving, leadership and decision-making skills

Preferred qualifications

  • Ambulatory care nursing experience
  • Primary nursing or case-management experience
  • Emergency department nursing experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support at hire

Pay

  • $50.99 - $93.14 / hour
