Administrative Specialist Senior
Administrative Specialist Senior position within the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice, a multi-faceted agency serving juveniles of the Commonwealth. The role supports youth accountability while fostering social and career skill development for successful community re-entry. Responsibilities
- Provides professional support to the facility superintendent in developing, maintaining, and implementing complex programs and activities in a DJJ facility.
- Gathers and compiles data, reports, and correspondence for executive/management staff meetings and inquiries.
- Interprets rules, regulations, and policies to the facility superintendent and staff.
- Prepares and processes personnel action requests (e.g., performance evaluations, disciplinary actions) and maintains related documents and employee files.
- Assists with personnel issues, including worker’s compensation, EEO, ADA, insurance, and performance evaluations.
- Serves as facility timekeeper; maintains all time and attendance records and prepares/reviews timesheets for payroll entry.
- Responds to written and verbal inquiries.
- Assists with facility training files.
- Serves as backup to the fiscal manager in their absence.
- Attends required trainings and meetings.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
- Substitutions:
- Additional education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Additional administrative, business, research, or clerical experience may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis.
Pay
Annual salary range: $39,284.88 - $58,927.20 (Pay Grade 13). Eligible for overtime pay.
Schedule
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (Executive Branch).
Working Conditions
Primarily office-based within a Department of Juvenile Justice facility.
Note: Employees in this position are prohibited from using medical cannabis due to applicable state or federal laws. Probationary period of 6 months applies.
