About the Role

The Kentucky School for the Deaf (KSD), located in Danville, Kentucky, is a statewide educational center dedicated to serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. KSD provides a bilingual environment in which students learn and grow in both American Sign Language (ASL) and English. Our programs empower students with the linguistic, academic, social, and transition skills they need to become confident, capable, and successful lifelong learners.

KSD is part of the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), which supports KSD through guidance, resources, and oversight as part of its mission to ensure success for every student in Kentucky’s P-12 public education system. As one of only two state-operated special schools under KDE, KSD has a long history of excellence in Deaf education and cultural preservation. Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
  • Substitutions:
    • Additional education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
    • Additional administrative, business, research, or clerical experience may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Primarily office-based duties.

Pay

Monthly salary range: $3,273.74 – $4,910.60 (Pay Grade 13).

Schedule

37.5 hours per week. Initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months.
