About the role

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) seeks dynamic and diverse candidates for part-time Chicano Studies Instructor positions for the 2025 Academic School Year. This posting creates a pool of qualified applicants for future openings at LACCD's nine colleges.

Responsibilities

  • Teach any Chicano Studies Courses offered, fostering engaging and inclusive educational environments.
  • Collaborate, communicate, and work professionally with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Engage with a diverse range of students, including those from various socioeconomic levels, ethnicities, and educational backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Chicano Studies, Ethnic Studies, or a related field.
  • A sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.
  • Certification in Blackboard, Canvas, or similar online modalities (preferred).

Skills

  • Ability to create culturally responsive educational environments.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with remote learning platforms such as Canvas.

Benefits

Adjunct instructors are compensated at a starting rate of $89.72 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments. Candidates with a doctoral degree may qualify for a doctoral differential.
