Accounting Clerk
About the role
The Accounting Clerk obtains financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. Assignments are routine in nature and are carried out in accordance with general instructions and established procedures under direction of the Accounting Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain spreadsheets;
- Type reports and other records;
- Run routine weekly reports as needed;
- Compile and sort documents, such as movement forms and checks, substantiating business transactions;
- Verify and post details of business transactions, such as funds received and total accounts;
- Enter alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from source documents into computer following format displayed on the screen;
- Compare data entered with source documents, or re-enter data in verification format on screen to detect errors;
- Delete incorrectly entered data, and re-enter correct data;
- Compile, sort, and verify accuracy of data to be entered; keep records of work completed;
- Reconcile differences/errors with farm managers.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred;
- Two years of accounting/bookkeeping experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel to create pivot tables and extract needed data.
