Account Specialist (Dental Billing) - Pittsburgh, PA
About the role
The Account Specialist is responsible for managing patient accounts, insurance billing, and financial communications within the dental practice. This role ensures accurate account management, timely claim processing, and exceptional patient service regarding financial matters.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain patient accounts, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of financial records.
- Verify dental insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage prior to treatment.
- Submit, track, and follow up on insurance claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Process patient payments, billing statements, and account adjustments.
- Discuss treatment costs, payment options, and financing arrangements with patients.
- Monitor outstanding balances and coordinate collection efforts as needed.
- Resolve billing discrepancies and respond to patient account inquiries professionally and promptly.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure accurate treatment documentation and billing.
- Maintain compliance with dental billing regulations, insurance requirements, and office policies.
- Prepare financial reports and assist with account reconciliation when required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1 year of relevant experience
Qualifications
- Ability to manage patient accounts and financial records accurately and confidentially.
- Knowledge of dental insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage.
- Experience in submitting and tracking insurance claims.
- Proficiency in processing patient payments and billing statements.
- Excellent communication skills to discuss treatment costs, payment options, and financing arrangements.
- Ability to monitor outstanding balances and coordinate collection efforts.
- Experience resolving billing discrepancies and responding to patient inquiries.
